Lauren and Jeff: A Vintage E-session by Ashley Rose

I've been holding onto these images by Ashley Rose for... well, way too long. Between my new job and my other blog, I've definitely neglected poor little Mason Jar Bride.

But in addition to being Mother's Day (love you Mom!), it's also my birthday (!), which means I've had absolutely zero obligations today and I finally had the chance to sit down and share this beautiful Engagement Session with you.

I first met Lauren back when I was working at The White Dress. She was one of the kindest, sweetest, and most adorable brides I ever had the pleasure of working with. I helped her choose her gorgeous Cymbeline wedding gown and I know she is going to make an absolutely radiant bride. I hope she and Jeff will let me share some pictures from their upcoming wedding too!

Lauren is also one of the luckiest brides you could ever meet, because she has a rockstar team behind her. She hired my coordinator/co-designer/florist/all-around-wonder-woman Jesi Haack, plus she's got the talented eye of Miss Ashley Rose behind the lens.

Lauren and Jeff are obviously smitten with each other and they have style to boot! I know y'all are going to LOVE their Engagement Session. Enjoy :)

Things I {heart} today...

I'll admit. I've been feeling pretty uninspired lately.


For a while there, everything was looking the same. Checking my ever-expanding blogroll was just getting a little... ho-hum. (Don't get me wrong, I love all of my fellow bloggers! You ladies rock!) But for quite I while, it just seemed like I had nothing important or interesting to talk about.


On top of that, we haven't had much wedding-related stuff to do. I feel like we've reached a stalemate, of sorts. As of now, it's just a waiting game...but before we know it, we'll be in over our heads in DIY projects.


So. The point.


I'm cured of my lethargy. For the past couple of days, the blogosphere has been bursting at the seams with sexiness. So there are a few things that I just have to share.

Chelsea of Oh, My Deer! vamped up some already-amazing shoes. Is it any surprise that I'm obsessed with these?




Super-sweet dresses from sarahseven's Etsy shop (via my fellow Wedding Chicks bridal blogger, Alison. love her!) Somebody pleeeeeze buy me one for my bridal shower, or rehearsal dinner, or any random day when I feel like dressing up. OK thanks.





That last one could be adorable for a laid-back bride planning a simple backyard wedding. sigh.


I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Thanks, internet!!

I'm not made for this.

I'm in Denver and it is COLD.

I'd kill for a 60-degree California winter right about now.

But it's been worth it to enjoy some quality time with the fam :)



My big sis is getting married in June, on top of a mountain, so we took a trip up there to see the spot. IT. WAS. FREEZING. With the wind chill it was about 15 below. which is just not right.

So... my sister and I are polar opposites. I'm obsessed with planning all the little details of a wedding, and she would rather elope. Somehow she talked me into being her wedding planner. Which means... two weddings in 5 months. Am I crazy? yes, obviously.

If you live within 50 miles of Denver, Beatrice and Woodsley is worth a special trip. The brunch is amazing, but you will probably pee your pants over the decor. I wish I had taken more pictures, but I felt like I might get escorted out of the place. Like I was in a museum or something.

Remember my shoes? I brought them with me all the way from California so I could go back to the Priscilla of Boston salon and try them on with my dress!



Curt reads this blog, so in order to keep the element of surprise I can't post more dress pictures on here. But check out my posts on Wedding Chicks and I'll share the love :)


I also experimented with my hair. I've been going back and forth on whether to attempt DIY-ing it on the day of the wedding. I think it turned out ok, but even this quick little trial run stressed me out! I feel silly spending money to have it done when I'm fairly capable of making it work, but I definitely don't want to feel rushed on the day of the wedding. Thoughts?? Anyone know a talented but affordable stylist in the Orange County or LA area??


I'm definitely going to order a custom hairpiece via here, here, or here (for reals, Etsy makes me so happy I could cry). This is just something they had at the salon, but my piece will probably be pretty similar. I'm loving the tulle and netting combo, but I think I want a slightly bigger piece of netting so it falls across my face a little bit. I've even considered making a visit to the Millinery Supply in LA and buying the materials so I can try to create it myself. But my lack of craftiness scares me. a lot.


Hope you're all enjoying the holiday season with the people you love the most!! This is the last Christmas that Curt and I will spend apart... I'm so excited to spend next Christmas as a newlywed :) But for now, I'm freezing my booty off, so please send warm and toasty thoughts my way!

One of the first things I did after getting engaged was start looking for a photographer. We figured since it was the one thing that was actually going to last, we were willing to devote a significant portion of our budget to finding someone who could capture all the love, excitement, and fun of our wedding day. Enter Sarah K. Chen. I'll definitely do a full post on Sarah soon, but trust me, her work is fan-freakin-tastic, so pleeeeease do yourself a favor and go check out her blog. Like, now. I'll wait.

Hecks yeah I’m wearing purple ostrich skin shoes at my wedding. The hard part is resisting the temptation to wear them now. I’ve resorted to keeping them at the future in-laws’ house so I don’t take them out for a test drive. But the best part? After the wedding, I’ll be able to wear them again. And again. And again.
